Strategic and operational overview

When Informa asked me to lead KNect365 in 2016 there was no operational or strategic setup whatsoever. I created the original “Pathway to Our Promise” document that took all brand design team activities and placed them onto one page as a schematic. This graphic is an evolution of that original document. Most of the key aspects are still in place for Informa Connect to this day and much of the success of the team is due to executing through the vision and the very linear approach mapped out in the ‘pathway’.

At the beginning of 2020 Informa Connect was taking its initial steps as a new market facing global business information brand. With its launch a team restructure was needed. Learnings from the old KNect365 team had paved way to new roles, responsibilities and processes. This document maps out the changes that took place and the team evolved with the times.

With both a strategy and team structure in place the next piece to consider was the actual “boots on the ground.” This diagram portrays the ideal process that all Informa Connect business teams interact with and make requests of the brand and design team.

Informa Connect needed to integrate a creative branding process with optimal efficiency at high volumes of design requests. This unique approach combines brand briefing with industrialized art-working without sacrificing individual product identities.

Project management & Asset Management

The Informa Connect brand and design team is a part of the central marketing division and reports into Informa Connect’s Chief Marketing Officer. The many internal groups that the team services however, are de-centralized. This makes managing a cohesive workflow especially challenging. Systems were put in place to best accommodate the ever-changing needs of the business. These systems include:

  • Microsoft OneDrive for team asset management and archiving

  • ServiceNow for Project Management

  • WebDAM for centralized asset management

  • “CORE” platform, Informa Connect’s market facing content management system
